Biography
When singing has been a part of your life since before you were born it's only natural that music would be a big part of your life once you get here. The Whitacre sisters, Alisa and Laura, the oldest and youngest of three sisters born and raised in South Florida, have been singing together all their lives and because of the shared genes they inherited, can sound so alike at times that it's hard to know who's singing what.
The two sisters began singing in church when they were very young along with their sister, Lindse. The trio formed Sorelle, and sang for several years from 1999- 2002 when they decided to stop the music and pursue other interests. In the spring of 2012, Alisa brought a song to her mom and dad, "Loving You", the first song she'd written in many years.
It was the start of a new writing streak and when she wrote "She Dreams" for Laura in the late summer of 2012, the girls decided it was time to bring the music back and they haven't stopped writing since . Working and earning a living means the music has been slower getting recorded than they'd like but they are also perfectionists and don't want to put anything out that isn't quality.
All of their is music is self composed and the lyrics portray the thoughts of strong, intelligent and loving women whose victory over sometimes less than optimal life experiences touches a common chord in all of us.
Their sound is a blend of the best of country, folk and rock married to clever and engaging lyrics. This is not cookie-cutter country but rather a blend of musical influences from The Dixie Chicks to The Rolling Stones with a bit of Wilson Phillips and the Eagles thrown in for some seasoning.
The personalities of sisters are as different as night and day. Laura describes it as "Alisa is type A and I am type Z. She's very by the book and I'm more 'go with the flow'." One can imagine this makes for some great stories which the girls include in their live performances. Both girls list singing and music at the top of the list of their favorite things to do and it shows in every note and lyric.
