My name is Yuliya and my stage name is Aleen Nova. Aleen is an ancient Celtic name which means 'beautiful' and Nova is a new star :-) My friends and family say I am smart, hard-working, emotional, idealist, never shy of dirty work if it takes me to my goal, never give up to the point of being stubborn, always learning and taking risks.
My dreams... I have a dream to see a big stadium in front of me one day during my concert. I am absolutely sure it will happen and working toward this.
Another big dream is to make my family startup (which is a financial app named Wallio, check App store if interested) a successful project that will bring value to Americans and help them completely stop worrying about money. And I know it will happen because we believe in Wallio as a brand new concept to help people in the richest country in the world to live a better, fuller life with swell retirement.

I have been singing as far as I remember myself. Music has helped me through some extremely challenging times in my life. Music has had a profound impact on my feelings and thoughts I seem to connect with on a deeper level, which has helped me deal with personal issues that I have endured.

My musical journey has started at the age of five when I began studying cello at the local music school in my country Belarus. After 2 years of study, I met Vladimir Perlin, known cellist and internationally recognized teacher and Master of Belorussian State Academy of Music in Minsk. Vladimir was traveling across the country searching for talented and gifted children. I was selected during his audition to move to Minsk, to begin studying at Belorussian Academy of Music. However, my parents were not ready to let a 8 years old girl live away from the family and disallowed. Soon I found myself experimenting with a piano, as my fingers curiously explored the keys and their sounds. It wasn’t long after I discovered that it is possible to create an unlimited number of melodies and harmonies by improvisation. The piano suddenly became a magical device as I realized it was a powerful tool that could be used to weave an infinite amount of stories and emotions. I was not able to play by notes as I did not have proper training but it was more than enough for me to play my own melodies or pick up some songs by ear. Soon after, I also discovered an acoustic guitar and the same thing happened as I explored it: I was improvising, playing songs by ear and singing. So, starting from my childhood, I was singing for my friends and family while accompanying myself with piano and guitar.

After graduating from school my focus switched to the booming software industry and I entered the University of Computer Science to become a manager of IT projects. After graduation, I started working in a software company. At the age of 25, I moved with my family to the USA. Throughout the years of living here, I was far from the thought to become a singer or to pursue a musical career even though I kept singing in karaoke and playing for my family and friends.

Nevertheless, while going through a hard time of my life I was thinking who am I and why I am here, and my inner self started showing up more and more and bringing deep feelings of something I am missing. That time I was in the middle of the process of looking for a new job in an IT project management area. Finally, I got the job and weird enough, I realized as clear as it possibly could that I don't want it. My passion for music and my entire emotional part manifested with all power! From that moment I knew what I want. I wanted to return this magic into my life and feel all range of emotions music has been always giving me. Even more, I felt I would like to share my passion, my feelings and my emotions with the world through my singing. I started taking my professional vocal training and continue doing it today.

One of my favorite music genres is Symphonic Metal. Since I grew up in Europe and many people there are also lovers of this music I inherited this passion with my genes, I guess :-). I searched and found a local symphonic metal band named "Dawn of Morgana" and became a lead singer. We started doing local shows and soon we released our first Extended Play (EP) named "Revelations" (available on Amazon, Apple). We have been doing our performances for 2 years, however, due to unbearable differences in the views for the band's further path I chose to leave the band and start my own solo career.

During my vocal training, I was experimenting with music genres such as musical theater, pop, RnB. I got interested to learn jazz techniques and took "Modern jazz" program at California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley. I really enjoyed this program and started listening to a lot of jazz singers. It helped me to develop my own jazz style and combine it with some jazz techniques I was taught in Berkeley. Today I sing mostly pop, jazz, and some RnB as well.

I participate in semi-annual recitals as part of my vocal training and participate when possible in some local festivals and competitions. I never miss the chance to learn more about singing and discover singing-related tricks and techniques. I really enjoy my musical journey! The biggest crowd I performed for was my winner concert performance in November 2018 at SF East Bay university (about 200 people) where I took 1st place in Avocational division of SFBAC NATS Signing festival.
I love animals and have a cat and a dog we rescued from a shelter. They bring us joy every day!
Here is my favorite quotes and some of them is my life credo:
The harder I work, the luckier I get.
Today is the first day of the rest of my Life.
If you don't make a choice, someone else will choose for you.
If you don't have a clear goal in life, you are destined to work for someone who does.
If you keep doing what you have been doing, you will keep getting what you have been getting.
